Fireworks Cooking Project

Tonight I finally made space to make an entry for my "Food & Wine" Cookbook ... "36 Dinner Party Ideas," "Chateau Concord Food & Wine."

For a couple of years, I've been working on a cookbook focusing on themed celebrations for each month of the year - with recommended wine pairings, etc.

It's more a compilation of suggestions and ideas than a recipe book, and many of the dishes have been made from a base recipe that already existed, though adapted with my own touches. Much more detail on this in the book, of course and if I ever get round to it I'll create a separate page or even website on food and wine.

Tonight's theme, which will go in the November chapter, is Bonfire Night. The inspiration goes back to childhood memories of Guy Fawkes night at my primary schools, with fireworks, hotdogs and donkey rides in the crisp autumn evening. I didn't manage to get sparklers today but hopefully will do so in the next day or two and take one up to the common near my flat in Malvern and picture with a paper cup of mulled wine!

Now then, onto the dishes:

Chicken Chasseur

Applewood Vintage Cheddar Mash

Creamed Greens (Applewood Cheddar Cream Sauce)

Veggie Currywurst

Dessert: Cinnamon & Nutmeg Spiced Shortcake with Caramel & Apple glaze

Wine Pairings: Mulled Wine with Orange & "Party Riesling"!

Well, it's nearly 9.30pm and I'm tired and there's way too much to say about this ... there will have to be a separate page/or you'll have to wait for the book to be finished!!
