it's all about jesus

Faith has become central to my life the past 5-6 years but I'm also simply fascinated by biblical history in general, documentaries about Jesus' life and so on. This page is devoted to this interest for your perusal! I want to do a research piece soon on some aspect of Jesus' life. Earlier this year I was able to visit Israel, where my mother was born (in Nazareth, Jesus' home town) and there are some photos of this trip here, too.

ON JESUS' LIFE: A TOPIC TO BE CONFIRMED AND WRITTEN ABOUT!

Whilst I am deciding, why not help me choose:

1. Jesus' childhood

2. The Mystery Years (between 12 and 30)

3. Diet and Lifestyle

4. Jesus' own faith and courage as a man

5. Jesus as a Jew - observance of Jewish Traditions

6. Key Stories & Events, Searching for Historical evidence and examining sources e.g. the Miracles or encounters with people e.g. the Samaritan woman, Mary Magdalene, etc

7. Jesus' family

Shabbat Shalom!

Whenever I can these days, I do a Shabbat: for me, this is an evening of prayer and relaxing with a nice documentary, and usually a nice meal, too. Tonight I'm not cooking, but often I get a Challah and make some variation of Harissa Chicken, with Jerusalem Salad  & Houmous.

BIBLE STUDY 7TH NOVEMBER ... ON SHABBAT!

FOCUS: TIMOTHY CHAPTER 4

For the past couple of weeks since moving into Malvern, I've aimed to make it a habit to read a chapter of the bible each morning when I wake up. I don't have a structured plan for the order in which to read this, so at the moment I'm just being directed by my Holy Bible app, which pops up with a new verse each day. I look it up and read the whole chaper of the verse referred to.

Today, it was 2 Timothy, Chapter 4 verse 7, so I read the whole of 2 Timothy Chapter 4.

Overall Summary:

It is a command to preach the word, and also warns of future times (Verse 3: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears") when people will not be willing to hear the truth and accept it.

My own thoughts & Interpretation:

The main, or at least the most instant message I got from this was the call to preach the gospel ... (Verse 2: Preach the word ... exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine). In other words, this chapter is a call to arms of the word - go out and say it! I have taken it as an encouraging cue to get on with writing more about the Bible and it seems a very apt chapter to initiate this!

"With all longsuffering" also suggests the need to be prepared for a struggle, frustration and standing by the word even when it may be difficult, or even unpopular to do so.
